Adjournment Debate: Music Tuition for Young People

In tonight's Adjournment Debate (the final debate of the day, usually a topic of concern raised by a back-bench MP), I asked if it was right to charge pupils for music tuition. Surely we should be encouraging interest in creative opportunities for young people, not restricting it?

Latest Employment Figures

I am pleased to report from the latest employment figures that not only are a record number enjoying the fulfilment of employment but more of those than ever before are women.  Wages have also outpaced inflation for the eleventh month in a row.

Transport for Towns

I am continuing to work with the Secretary of State for Scotland and local councils on the Ayrshire Growth Deal, and I am delighted to share with you that the UK Government has this week promised £100m to support the twenty-one projects confirmed at our Ayrshire Growth Deal Reception last month. 

Sport in the UK Debate

I spoke this evening in the general debate on Sport in the UK, highlighting the vast range of sporting events held each year in Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock and the value these bring to the community, not least the events organised by Ayr Racecourse on behalf of local charities.
