Sports Facilities in Former Coalfield Communities

Today I participated in the Westminster Hall debate on the importance of promoting health and fitness in former mining communities. It is vital that they are not forgotten and that support organisations and local councils have the funding they need to maintain and build facilities in these communities. It is a matter of national importance so, while health and sport are devolved matters, I would be delighted to see a joined-up approach between Governments, local councils and the many support groups working in former coalfield communities to ensure minimal overlap and the best possible efficiency of support.
